Salonga matters. For bonobos. For elephants. For humanity. Help SCI protect Salonga’s natural treasures.

Support our conservation work

The Salonga National Park harbors ~60% of the world’s bonobo population and is one of the last places where bonobos and forest elephants coexist in significant numbers. Salonga and its wildlife face urgent threats due to poaching and the bushmeat trade.

To advance effective conservation efforts, we need to regularly monitor animal abundance and distribution. But monitoring wildlife populations in a dense rainforest that is over 33,000 km² is physically demanding and logistically challenging. The work requires special skills and a dedicated team of people in the forest. Above all, to protect Salonga requires long-term commitment. SCI’s track record proves our staying power. We have the tools, the team, and the expertise to help shape Salonga’s future.

Your donations help us increase the scope of our monitoring activities so that park authorities can act with greater immediacy to protect bonobos and elephants in the world’s third-largest rainforest park.
